Last summer if you asked me if I would ever cut the cable, my answer would have been NEVER! Literally, anyone who knows me knows my obsession with TV. It is definitively not a healthy habit, but I always multi-task while indulging in all 70 of my favorite shows (I can’t be the only one). This is our quick Amazon Fire TV Stick review and why you should get one to help you save money.

We had DirecTV since moving into our house in 2013. Our contract expired every year and we were always able to negotiate it back down when they tried to hike it up. The other reason we stayed with them for the three years is that they gave us NFL Sunday Ticket each year for free.
The last year when we called they were not going to give us NFL Sunday Ticket and the price would have been over $800 for the year if we stayed. We finally made the decision to ditch cable and I didn’t know how I was going to move on.

The Moment of Shock
Whole house DVR allowed me never to miss a show. How was I now going to keep up with 70 shows on an antenna when I have multiple shows playing on multiple channels. I bet a lot of people have this fear when they first make the jump.
The first thing I did was take a picture of my DVR list so I would remember all the shows Kelan and I both watch. Then, I did some searching in the App store. I found gold!
I found an app called “TV Show Tracker 3” and it has been amazing! Not only is it free, but it will also notify you 15 minutes before your show is scheduled to be on. I searched each one of our shows in the app and clicked the check mark for having watched all previous seasons. This is one of my favorite features on the app. After you have finished watching the show, go into the app and click on the box to mark it with a check. The notification in the corner will go down and you know you are not behind on your shows. So, now you’re wondering how do I watch all 70 of my shows?
Enter, Our Amazon Fire TV Stick
The Amazon Fire TV Stick has saved us SO much money! For the low one-time cost of $39.99, it’s almost half of what we were paying per month with DirecTV. The Amazon Fire TV Stick is a media streaming device that allows you to download apps enabling you to watch your favorite TV shows.
We downloaded Amazon Video, Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, Pandora and started streaming. Our monthly subscription fee for these streaming services is right around $20 per month, a fraction of the cost we use to pay.

I also made some changes when we switched over and dropped some shows I knew I would not be able to get access to anymore. And in all honesty, I don’t miss them.
Currently, we only have one Amazon Fire TV Stick and two TVs. At the moment we manually move it from TV to TV depending on where we want to watch. We love it so much we might be investing in another one to save the hassle.

Nine Months Later
It has been about 9 months and we will never go back. I truly thought those words would not come out of my mouth. For having our Amazon Fire TV Stick for almost a year, we haven’t had one problem. It’s extremely user-friendly and easy to move around in the different apps.
The new device even has the Alexa Voice Remote to get to shows or movies even faster. Our internet package is a basic package and we have never had an issue with buffering.
One of my favorite features is that you can download the Pandora app. When we have the Firestick in our bedroom, I love that I can turn on Pandora on the TV when cleaning upstairs because it is much louder than my phone.

With over to 75,000 reviews the Amazon Fire TV Stick has a 4.6-star rating.
How do we know it’s the best streaming device alternative when cutting cable? Well, for one thing, we also tried out Google Chromecast and we sent it back within a week.
In addition to our Amazon Fire TV Stick, we also have two HD antennas that are amazing and allow for many local channels to come in crystal clear. We love having the option of watching our shows and sports live.
