Home Organization Tip #1: Make three piles
This idea came from the early 2000’s TV show Clean Sweep. It has always been ingrained in my head that this is the best way to start organizing your home. I make the three piles in the garage so it easy to sort through and move when you are all done.
Do not get overwhelmed by jumping from room to room. Either work from the bottom rooms of your house to the top or the top to the bottom. Whatever way you prefer. This will help you stay focused on the task at hand.
Make it a game with your kids. Set a timer and tell them it’s a race to clean and organize before the timer is up.

When you get to each room in your home, ask yourself these simple questions. Have I used this item in the last 6 months? Why do I need more than 1 (blank)? Would it be better for me to donate, sell, or just throw away the clutter items? I ask myself these questions all the way through each room.
Cleverly Inspired has done a great job of providing us with an example of cleaning out the clutter and repurposing different items for this office. Which brings us to our next home organization tip.

I love this cleaning closet! Who has a cleaning closet? I wish I had space in my house for this. What I love the most about the home organization tip of repurposing other items are the shoe holders. There are two in this picture. One on the back of the door and the other one hanging in the closet. What normally would be used for shoes, now turned in to cleaning and paper product holders.
Home Organization Tip #5: Clean

As you are decluttering, clean as you work your way through each room. You will be shocked when you go to clean out and declutter a cabinet and realize how much dust or dirt built up where the items were. Plus if you are moving items to a new shelf, dust off the shelf and have it cleaned off in a fresh new spot.
Home Organization Tip #6: Relax
You did it! Pour yourself a cup of Joe or hot chocolate and cozy up in a room where you can reflect back on your hard work. You deserve it. To make it less stressful for the next time, keep up with it more frequently. We have a rule in our house. If we get something new, we get rid of two things. This really helps with keeping up with the clutter and keep up with the minimalist mindset.
