Pumpkin carving ideas have come so far since I was a kid. With the growth of Pinterest, we have access to so many more ideas! Who knew you could use tools you already have around your house for pumpkin carving?
I can think back to carving pumpkins as a child. We would get pumpkins from a local store and carve them a night or two before Halloween.
My mom would buy the pumpkin carving kits with the pictures you trace onto the pumpkin. We would lay out newspapers and get to work cleaning out the pumpkins with the orange gut scooper from the kit. Nothing says childhood Halloween like a carving kit and some cheap decorations outside!

As easy and place, hammer, and pull! This picture shows you the best way to end up with an even application of your cookie cutter, and also ensure you don’t hit it too hard in one spot with the hammer and ruin the shape!
Etched Pumpkin Carving Ideas
Materials: Woodworking Tools, Clay Loop
Etched pumpkin carvings are something I am really looking forward to this Halloween. It is something different and is super quick! The first step is to sketch than to etch. How simple! Sketch the design that you want on the front of your pumpkin and then use the etching tools to carve out your design.
While you are carving, you take the first layer off the pumpkin to show the lighter orange behind it. If you mess up, no big deal! Just make your design a little wider. There are different size woodworking tools to use for different types of designs. Use items like paint or glitter to give non-etched areas a unique look.
